HR & People Operations Certificate Program

This certificate is available to both non-degree and degree-seeking students. As a stand-alone certificate, this credential will provide appropriate background for those seeking to apply human resource management skills to entry level HR office positions.  It is also appropriate for anyone seeking to lead or facilitate teams or supervise a department. A focus on the people skills needed to manage the sometimes challenging aspects of leading others through the complexities of organizational behavior make this a relevant certificate for any organizational setting or profession. 

The certificate serves as a foundation for advanced studies in leadership and the development of effective supervisors and managers.The certificate is available to:

  • Working professionals and other non-degree students without a bachelor’s degree (just starting UG studies at SJC).
  • Students enrolled in the undergraduate business administration program at SJC (BSBA Degree).
  • Students who already possess an undergraduate degree in any major, from any institution (Any Bachelor’s Degree).

Certificate Program Outcomes:

  1. Understand the foundation of ethical and professional standards including those specific to the field of Human Resources.
  2. Demonstrate critical writing, thinking, calculating, and communication proficiencies.
  3. Acquire knowledge and competencies within the HR profession,
  4. Obtain the basic understanding of people operations needed to lead teams through change and conflict and through knowledge of organizational behavior,
  5. Obtain a credential that will lead to employment or advancement in the HR profession or entry level leadership positions.

Admission Requirements


As a credit bearing certificate program, students are expected to adhere to SJC’s undergraduate GPA requirements. For those seeking to apply to the Master of Accountancy program, a minimum grade of “C,” or better is required in each course.

The 15-credit undergraduate program provides participants with courses transferable to degree options available through Saint Joseph’s College. Twelve of the required 15 credits must be completed through Saint Joseph’s College. Please have official transcripts forwarded directly to Saint Joseph’s College (attn: Online Registrar’s Office) for transfer credit review.

The Certificate in Human Resources and People Operations is offered 100% online and includes five 3-credit courses delivered through the Brightspace LMS. Each course is delivered asynchronously over a 10-week term, and the certificate can be completed at one’s own pace.  Time to completion will depend on the specific coursework required and prerequisite requirements.  If all courses are required, at the rate of two courses per term, the certificate can be completed in 10 months.
