The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with Banking Major meets the needs of those who wish to become effective managers of people, projects, or their own business. The curriculum has been developed by professionals with combined business and academic expertise from both Saint Joseph’s College and the Center for Financial Training and Education Alliance (CFTEA). Courses require students to apply what they have learned to a work setting and thus are able to immediately test their personal and professional skills.
The carefully crafted CFTEA Banking Major program’s express goal is to ensure that the graduate will have acquired those sound analytical skills that are necessary to become an effective supervisor or manager in the banking industry, or other public or private institution.
The program outcomes for the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Banking major include the abilities to:
- Build a well-rounded foundation of topical knowledge unique to the profession along with general management studies.
- Apply theory to practice within the critical areas of management in 21st century organizations.
- Acquire various bodies of knowledge and competencies within specific areas of study or individual fields.
- Demonstrate critical writing, thinking, calculating, and communication proficiencies.
- Acquire broad areas of human knowledge to develop intellectual capacity and deepen insight within general fields of study.
- Understand the foundation of ethical and professional standards including those specific to a field of study.
- Develop a foundation for lifelong learning.
- Obtain credential or degree needed to advance or enter professional career in the field of management.

Curriculum
The BSBA Degree w/Banking Major is intended for students to apply credits earned through the Center for Financial Training/Northern New England, towards their major requirements. General Education requirements consist of business focused courses to complement the business core and business elective requirements.
Consists of 120 semester hour credits, including 42 credits of General Education Requirements, 36 credits of Core Business requirements and 30 Banking Major credits and 9 Business Elective credits and 3 General Elective credits.
Associate Degree Block Transfer (60 Credits)
For those enrolled in the banking major who possess an associate degree and wish to complete the BSBA degree program.
Banking majors who possess an associate degree from an accredited institution are eligible for The BSBA Completion Degree.
The completion degree allows for the full acceptance of an associate degree (60 credits) as a “block” transfer without the need for a partnership agreement with degree conferring institutions. General Education options (15 Credits) consist of business focused courses to complement the business core and business elective requirements. Students must also complete 15 credits from the selection of available Business Electives (Total of 30 Credits).
The admitted student (with 2.5 GPA or greater) may transfer the entire “block” of undergraduate credits earned. These credits may consist of courses from general education, professional and trade programs.
Core Curriculum:
In addition, all students must fulfill the college’s Core Curriculum requirements and meet the 120 credit graduation requirement.

Business Electives (9 credits) Choose 3:
Students are not required to take any particular grouping of courses and may choose any combination from any of the available business electives listed in the catalog.
Preparatory coursework may apply in some cases (check course descriptions for prerequisite requirements).
Notes:
- Students may choose from any of the course offerings pertaining to business described in the catalog that are not listed as a business core course in the program option chosen.
- Students considering The Leadership MBA Fast Track Option should check with their advisor to ensure qualification. Earned credit with a “B,” or better will be considered for transfer into the MBA program.
- Students seeking to enroll in the Master of Accountancy should consider taking all prerequisites (6 courses) prior to applying to the graduate degree program.
- Students seeking CPA licensure should determine their state’s accounting coursework requirements to choose appropriate electives.
