BI 219 - Nursing Foundation: Microbiology


In this course students will examine microorganisms and the impact that these bacteria and viruses have on human health.  Students will discover the anatomical and physiological aspects of bacteria and viruses and learn how to classify microorganisms.  The online lab will allow students to fully engage in the activities and reinforce content.

 

Course Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Characterize the physiology of the microorganisms including growth, metabolism and nutrition.
  • Analyze the processes by which bacteria and viruses infect human hosts.
  • Use the microorganism nomenclature and classification system to describe microorganisms based upon features and laboratory analysis.
  • Apply microbiology concepts to experiential labe activities.
