PY 305 - Social Psychology


Examines the way individuals are affected by and interact in social situations. Topics include attitude formation and change, the attribution process, inter-group conflict and conflict resolution, leadership, the social psychology of health and aging.

Course Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, you should be able to do the following:

  • Define social psychology and its historical origins.
  • Explain the main theories in social psychology.
  • Explain the main concepts of social psychology such as attribution, dissonance, conformity, prejudice, aggression, persuasion, self, attitudes, and prosocial behavior.
  • Explain group dynamics and processes.
  • Describe the research methods used to study aspects of social psychology and be able to critically evaluate research findings and conclusions.
