The MDiv curriculum prepares students for leadership in the Church as missionary discipleship. Through theology courses, pastoral experiences, formation opportunities, and spiritual practice students are prepared to serve the Church as believers, formators, and disciples sent on mission (Missio Dei) to bring the Good News of Jesus Christ to people who feel marginalized. These areas of the curriculum prepare students for work in various areas of ministry such as:
-
pastoral leadership, diocesan administration, safeguarding God’s children, chaplaincy, campus ministry, business management, fundraising and stewardship, spiritual direction, retreat director, social justice agencies, and religious education.
The MDiv degree is a 72-credit-hour (24-course) degree program, consisting of the four dimensions of formation as stated in the Co-Workers in the Vineyard of the Lord document: human, pastoral, spiritual, and intellectual. Our MDiv curriculum allows students to serve in ministry practicums, create ministry projects, and pray with others in the program while earning the degree 100% online. The flexibility in the course delivery provides ample space for students to gather together outside of class for formation sessions held online or possibly in a centralized area in person.
Students with an advanced Masters in Theology or Pastoral Ministry degree may be able to transfer up to 18 advanced theology credits towards the 72 credit M.Div program.
Admission Requirements:
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Spiritual Autobiography.
- Letter or good standing if the student is an ordained deacon or priest in the Roman Catholic Church.
- A 300-600 word essay explaining your discernment process in applying for the Master of Divinity degree and what you feel called to do beyond its completion.
