Post-Graduate APRN Certificates (CAGS)

The Post Graduate Nurse Practitioner Certificates have a competitive admissions process. Successful applicants will meet the following additional admissions criteria:
- 3 references – from peer, supervisor, and prior faculty
- BSN and MSN from an accredited institution
- Cumulative GPA in MSN program of 3.5
- All official transcripts
- Career statement
- Resume or CV
- Active unrestricted, unencumbered RN license in the US
- If licensed as an NP in another specialty, then the NP license must also be unrestricted and unencumbered
- If nationally certified as an NP, then they must be unrestricted and unencumbered
- TOEFL if needed
Notes:
- Applicants who have had license sanctions must be without restrictions during the two years prior to Saint Joseph’s application.
- Part of the admissions review process is to determine if applicants meet all MSN requirements; applicants will be notified if they need additional courses for certification. If it is determined during this review that courses are missing, students will not be required to take them as part of, or before they begin, their Post-Graduate Nursing Certificate program.

Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certificate
The Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) Certificate is a 30-credit post-graduate program designed to prepare RNs with an undergraduate and graduate degree in nursing for a career as an Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. This certificate program prepares the graduate to sit for the national AGACNP certification exam. To ensure the student has met various skills and role competencies, a minimum of 600 supervised clinical hours will be completed in the geographical location of the student. Only Nurse Practitioner specific courses are required for completion of the post- graduate AGACNP certificate completion. Adult Gerontological Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Certificate (AGPCNP)
The Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP) Certificate is a 30-credit post-graduate program designed to prepare RNs with an undergraduate and graduate degree in nursing for a career as an Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner. This certificate program prepares the graduate to sit for the national AGPCNP certification exam. The Family Nurse Practitioner Certificate is a 30-credit post-graduate program designed to prepare RNs with an undergraduate and graduate degree in nursing for a career as a Family Nurse Practitioner. This certificate program prepares the graduate to sit for the national FNP certification exam. To ensure students have met various skills and role competencies, a minimum of 600 supervised clinical hours will be completed in the students geographical location. Only Nurse Practitioner specific courses are needed for post-MSN FNP certificate completion. Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Certificate (PMHNP)
The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) Certificate is a 30-credit post-graduate program designed to prepare RNs with an undergraduate and graduate degree in nursing for a career as an Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. This certificate program prepares the graduate to sit for the national PMHNP certification exam. To ensure the student has met various skills and role competencies, a minimum of 600 supervised clinical hours will be completed in the geographical location of the student. Only Nurse Practitioner specific courses are required for completion of the post- graduate PMHNP certificate completion. |
