The Bachelor of Arts in Theology covers a wide range of religious topics, many of which look at Catholicism and other major religions from historical, theological, and scriptural perspectives.  Students majoring in theology often double major in English, history, philosophy, psychology, science, or sociology.  This degree requires two semesters of the same foreign language and a requirement to complete a 20-credit minor in another academic field.  Students must obtain a C- or better in each course required for the major. 

With the completion of this degree program students will:

  • Have command of basic tenets and rituals of Judaism & Christianity
  • Be familiar with the Old and New Testaments and theological themes contained therein
  • Be able to utilize various biblical reference tools
  • Be able to engage in the practice of historical-critical methodology of biblical study
  • Be conversant with classical and contemporary approaches to Christology
  • Be able to demonstrates familiarity with basic moral principles and teachings of the Roman Catholic Church
  • Be able to critically examine a selected theological topic or theologian
