In the Accounting major students study financial statements, cost accounting, taxes, audits and financial analysis. The program prepares its graduates to pursue professional certifications. The business curriculum also provides students with a core base of knowledge in business theory, skills, and applications. Note: In order to take the CPA exam most states require you to have taken 150 credit hours. Maine has the 150 hour requirement.
Completing this degree program will enable students to:
- Communicate effectively: Students will confidently and respectfully communicate their opinions, vision, thoughts and ideas to a variety of audiences using diverse and contemporary forms of written and oral communications.
- Think critically: Students will utilize their highly developed critical thinking skills to solve complex business problems that will directly influence organizational performance.
- Act ethically: Students will respond with the highest level of integrity to the ethical issues that arise throughout their organizational and community citizenship.
- Make sound business decisions: - Students will learn to apply core and advanced business concepts, making sound and successful decisions for intra- and entrepreneurial situations.
