NU 493 - Introduction to Role Transitions, Concepts of Advanced Nursing and Ethics


This course provides an overview of contemporary professional nursing practice with a focus on developing reflective practice through developing and utilizing critical thinking and decision-making skills. The course draws from present literature relating to critical thinking and decision making within complex health care situations. Students are introduced to conceptual models of nursing practice that influence how nursing care is provided at the basic level and the advanced level. Students will focus on the identification and analysis of legal and ethical concepts and principles underlying nursing and health care at all levels.
