ED 566 - Professional Well-Being for Educators

This graduate online course is integrated with a 2 day on-campus Weekend Wellness Institute, which is a focused experience dedicated to social and emotional learning and professional well-being for educators. Students actively engage in pre-Institute online assignments that prepare them for the intensive weekend experience. Following the Institute, students complete post-Institute assignments that deepen their learning and application of the concepts explored. Online assignments throughout the course are tailored to meet the individual learning needs and professional goals of each student.

Course materials and online discussions directly support and enhance the activities and themes explored during the Weekend Wellness Institute. The Weekend Institute itself offers a blend of practical strategies, actively engaging sessions, and reflective spaces, all centered on the intersections, supports, and practices that promote social-emotional learning for both educators and students.

Key topics addressed throughout the course and during the Institute include understanding and mitigating compassion fatigue, fostering mental health awareness and self-care, stress management, core SEL concepts, self-awareness and promoting comprehensive social and emotional health within educational settings.

Students who enroll in this course commit to one weekend (2 days) on campus to attend the Institute.
