TH 330 - Jesus Christ: Human and Divine


This course provides a solid Catholic understanding of the mysteries of the life and role of Jesus Christ as found in the New Testament, in the Fathers of the Church, in Medieval theologians, and among the best contemporary Catholic theologians. The emphasis is on the living faith of the Church as it seeks to understand the heart of the Gospel.

Course Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:

  • Reflect on the living reality of the crucified and risen Christ.
  • Explain the functions of Scripture, Tradition, and the Magisterium, especially as expressed through the early Ecumenical Councils, in the study of Christology.
  • Explore historical Christology of Jesus in relation to other Christian and non-Christian religions.
  • Relate and synthesize Christology from the birth of Jesus Christ to the common era.
  • Determine the role of Jesus as human and divine as it relates to the redemption of humanity.
  • Summarize the differences between high and low christology.
