AC 640 - (Applied) Corporate Financial Management


This course addresses financial management specific to the corporate environment. Topics include equity financing and raising of capital through shares and initial public offerings, cash flow and liquidity, investment analysis including evaluation of stocks and bonds, dividend policies, market efficiency, and global financial concepts including foreign investment.

Course Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, you should be able to do the following:

  • Comprehend different types of debt instruments (bonds, loans) and how they are used in a corporation’s capital structure.
  • Analyzing the process of raising capital through issuing shares, including initial public offerings (IPOs) in the corporate environment.
  • Assess dividend policies to address the distribution of dividends to corporate shareholders.
  • Assess corporate capital structure choice and its implications on value and performance and evaluate investment options such as stocks and bonds.
  • Explore corporate financial concepts in a global context including exchange rates, currency risk management, and cross-border investments.
  • Appraise the risk profile of firms and firm valuation.
