General Studies: Psychology Specialization

This specialization involves the study of behavior and mental processes as well as the theories applied in evaluating behavior. Students interested in psychology are typically either working in or aspire to work in a field that requires a broader knowledge or better understanding of human behaviors.

General Education Requirements, B.S.


The Division of Graduate and Professional Studies offers 4 majors (General Studies, Health Administration, Long Term Care Administration, Radiologic Science) leading to the Bachelor of Science degree. Each major has its own set of core course requirements that provide students with a quality education that enhances their professional skills.

General Education Requirements


(45 semester-hour credits)

English Composition   6 credits 

Social Science 6 credits
Science 6 credits
History 6 credits
Philosophy 3 credits
Theology 3 credits
Ethics (PH 210) 3 credits
Mathematics 3 credits (6 credits required for BSGS)
Statistics 3 credits (not required for BSGS)
Humanities 6 credits (to include selections from the fine arts, literature, foreign languages, philosophy, theology or history)

General Elective Courses


Additional courses (electives) to complete the required 128 semester-hour credits may be selected from any of the course offerings described in other sections of the catalog.

Summer Program


Six semester-hour credits must be completed during a two-week residential summer session. Course offerings are announced prior to each residency session in a special summer catalog and include many choices not available through independent study.
