Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (C.A.G.S.)

The Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (C.A.G.S.) is an innovative post-graduate certificate that allows students to take courses inside or outside of their profession and degree area.  By completing the program, graduates will be noted for their depth of knowledge and their commitment to learning beyond the master’s degree, and they may add the C.A.G.S. credentials to their name.

Students may enroll in one of the following:

CAGS. Theology: Students complete 18 credits of graduate and/or post-graduate Theology courses

CAGS Interdisciplinary: Students choose courses from any of Saint Joseph’s College’s graduate programs and complete the CAG 600 Interdisciplinary Capstone Course. 

Admission Requirements

Students must hold a master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with a 3.0 GPA.

Students must maintain a GPA of 3.0 and earn a “B” or better in every course taken as part of the CAGS

No transfer credits can be accepted into the CAGS.

All 6 courses must be taken as part of this certificate program.

Curriculum

CAGS Theology: Students complete 18 credits of graduate and/or post-graduate Theology courses. Courses may be a combination of 3 and 1 credit courses.

CAGS Interdisciplinary: Students complete five courses from various graduate programs of Saint Joseph’s College and complete the CAG 600 Interdisciplinary Capstone Course. Students must choose courses from at least three graduate programs, such as Education, Health Administration, MBA, Nursing, and Theology.

CAG 600 Interdisciplinary Capstone (3 credits): This Capstone thesis demonstrates the student’s ability to integrate concepts from the courses taken in tthe CAGS Interdisciplinary. The thesis reflects considerable critical thinking and original analysis. The student follows established guidelines for completing this thesis under the direction of a faculty advisor/reader.
