Students may be considered during their third or fourth year of attendance at Saint Joseph’s College for admission to the Pennsylvania College of Optometry for the following fall. Junior students applying for the program must plan their curriculum so that they will have completed all the requirements for graduation from Saint Joseph’s College by the end of the first year at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. Candidates seeking admission shall be presented to the Pennsylvania College of Optometry by a Joint Admissions Committee consisting of five (5) members with two (2) members appointed by the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, two (2) members appointed by Saint Joseph’s College and a practicing optometrist.
Applicants to the Doctor of Optometry program apply in the fall, one year prior to the intended year of admission. Applicants must:
- Submit a properly completed application accompanied by a non-refundable application fee to the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, Office of Admissions.
- Submit official transcripts of all previous college credits.
- Arrange to take the Optometry Admissions Test (OAT), no later than October of the year before intended admission and to have the results forwarded to the Office of Admissions.
- Have evaluations forwarded to the Pennsylvania College of Optometry.
- All applicants supported by the Saint Joseph’s College Pre-Optometry Committee will have an admissions interview at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry.

Note:
For students in the 4 Year Pre-Optometry Program with transfer to schools other than the Pennsylvania College of Optometry of Salus University:
MA 202 Calculus II is strongly recommended.
Some optometry schools may require additional courses.
All majors should discuss the program with the Pre-Optometry advisor. |
