HCA 650 - Instructional Design and Technology in Nursing and Healthcare Education Capstone


This course represents a culmination of the student’s certificate program.  The student works closely with an assigned instructor to develop an Applied Project in Instructional Course Design and Technology.

Course Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, the students will be able to:

  • Synthesize theory, evidence, published research, technology theories, and instructional design to develop learning materials for a course in healthcare or related field.
  • Formulate and prepare a rigorous critique of evidence to generate a course in healthcare, both on paper and online in an LMS.
  • Summarize the best available evidence from published literature as the foundation for the course in healthcare.
  • Evaluate and use online and fact-to-face design best practices to create health educator curriculum.
  • Produce a publishable course in healthcare in Canvas (LMS) containing all of the components of a newly developed course (online, hybrid, or in-person) utilizing curriculum mapping for a course related to the healthcare industry.
