HCA 642 - Teaching Strategies in Nursing and Healthcare Education


This course uses a variety of teaching strategies based on education theolory and evidence-based practices.  Modify teaching strategies and learning experiences base on the learner’s cultural background, past education and life experiences, and generational groups.

Course Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to do the following:

  • Demonstrate the use of ethical decision making to enhance the teaching-learning environment.
  • Demonstrate the use of advanced communication and leadership skills to enhance the teaching-learning environment.
  • Identify and utilize current evidence-based teaching strategies and materials used in classroom, clinical, hospital, and non-traditional learning settings.
  • Employ knowledge and skills in ethics, adult learning principles, and systems in teaching strategies of healthcare education.
  • Identify and demonstrate strategies for professional development and quality improvement while practicing in the role as a professional healthcare educator.
