NU 420 - Nursing Internship


This internship provides students the opportunity to demonstrate their ability to think in complex ways as they apply nursing knowledge and skills to new and unpredictable situations.

Prerequisites & Notes
NU 400, 405, 406, and all NU300 level courses

Course Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, learners will:

  • Demonstrates professional behaviors in appearance and demeanor (BSN ESSENTIAL VIII).
  • Use legal and ethical principles (BSN ESSENTIAL V).
  • Acts accountable in role as: advocate, collaborator, teacher, team member and leader (BSN ESSENTIAL VIII, VI).
  • Integrates research into practice (BSN ESSENTIAL III).
  • Becomes an independent learner (BSN ESSENTIAL VIII).
  • Demonstrates holistic caring behaviors to: clients and recognizes the importance of holistic self-care; community; colleagues; including health promotion and illness prevention (BSN ESSENTIAL IX).
  • Communicates effectively and professionally: verbally, nonverbally, in writing and using computer technology (BSN ESSENTIAL IX).
