NP 681 - Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Practicum I


This course serves as a companion course to NP 680 and consists of two components, a clinical practicum (200-240 hours with an approved preceptor) and an online seminar. The diagnostic reasoning skills needed for clinical decision making in the advanced practice role are emphasized, including refining skills in the performance of a comprehensive health status assessment, development of differential diagnoses, planning, health promotion and care management of adult patients. The course provides the PMHNP student with supervised clinical practice to apply the theoretical concepts from NP 680 in the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with mental illness.

Prerequisites: all MSN Core course and NP 600. Can have as a co-requisite NP 680.
