TH 502 - Catholic Campus Ministry


The course offers a theological framework for Catholic campus ministry with resources for best practice, including a view of the current landscape, and models for and components of campus ministry. It addresses the cultural challenges facing campus ministry today, and imagines strategies for the future.

Course Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, the student will:

  • Explain the central components of Empowered by the Spirit and its effectiveness with the disaffiliated and “nones” on college campuses today.
  • Articulate a comprehensive and Catholic vision of campus ministry by using the six aspects of campus ministry by the USCCB.
  • Learn the fourteen rules of discernment writte by St. Ignatius of Loyola and its applicationj to daily life.
  • Explore models of campus ministry cultural diversity and discern the model which fits best for their campus and university culture.
  • Complete a ten-hour practicum campus ministry project.
