Fine Arts Minor


The Fine Arts Minor serves as a bridge between disciplines, emphasizing process-based creation, experimentation, community outreach, visual communication, and marketing. This minor offers students interdisciplinary, critical thinking skills applicable to any major. In addition to exploring diverse histories and cultures, art teaches students to see and interpret the world around them.

Outcomes:

Upon completion of this minor, you should be able to do the following:

  1. Use a variety of traditional and new media art tools to produce original works of art.
  2. Use iterative design process (research, design, development, and assessment) to solve a problem.
  3. Demonstrate an understanding of the basic elements and principles of design projects.
  4. Critique art and identify a well-crafted finished design.
  5.  Argue the relevant applications of art and design in their chosen profession.
  6. Demonstrate visual literacy by extrapolating meaning from pictures.
  7. Demonstrate skills that enhance employ-ability including: creativity, critical thinking, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
  8. Identify and acknowledge their own strengths and weaknesses, and focus on leveraging strengths and minimizing weaknesses in the process of becoming a lifelong learner.
