Exercise Science / Pre-Athletic Training, B.S.

The Exercise Science/Pre-Athletic Training major prepares students for graduate school, particularly those students who are interested in pursuing a Master of Science in Athletic Training degree program.

Students must achieve a minimum grade of “B-” in these courses: BI120, BI210, BI211, CH130, HE202, MA205, PC120, PY101, SE203, SE302, and SE304.

Students are required to maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher by the end of their sophomore year to remain in Pre-Athletic Training curriculum.

Completing this degree program will enable students to:

  • Understand professional ethics and social responsibility as it relates to the development of exercise programs for the purpose of preparing athletes for optimal sport performance.
  • Demonstrate competence in the application of major concepts and theories associated with the preparation of athletes for sport related activities.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally in verbal, nonverbal, and written format.
  • Use critical thinking skills to solve problems associated with preparation of sport performance and in the development and administration of exercise programs designed to enhance sport performance.
  • Engage in career development activities to prepare for job success and/or graduate school entrance.
