The History major prepares students to succeed in graduate school and the professional world.  The program further develops students’ writing and analytical skills and offers a wide range of courses in specialized areas from U.S. Constitutional history to 20^th Century China. History majors are required to complete a 20-credit minor in a different academic field. Additionally, this degree program requires two semesters of the same foreign language.

Completing this degree program will provide students with:

• Historical Literacy: Fostering an appreciation and broad understanding of the past by examining relevant historical information from primary and secondary sources.
• Analytical Reasoning: Effectively applying methods of analysis, synthesis, and selection to diverse bodies of historical information.
