Fast Track to Master of Health Administration

The Fast Track program allows students in specific Saint Joseph’s College undergraduate health administration programs to substitute certain courses from the Master of Health Administration (MHA) program in lieu of comparable undergraduate courses. Students will then be allowed to count these graduate courses toward their graduate degree requirements. Restrictions apply. The undergraduate programs that qualify for this accelerated option are the following:

  • Bachelor of Science – Health Administration Major (up to 12 credits)
  • Bachelor of Science - Long-Term Care Administration Major (up to 12 credits)
  • Bachelor of Science - Radiologic Science Administration Major (up to 9 credits)
  • Bachelor of Science - Health Information Management Major (up to 12 credits)

Course Equivalencies


Qualified students in these undergraduate programs will be allowed to take courses from the following list. Courses chosen will apply toward an MHA degree and will also meet corresponding undergraduate degree course requirements.

Additional Admission Requirements


Students in the Bachelor’s degree programs must have a GPA of at least 3.0 and have completed all general education requirements, as well as the following three major courses before taking any of the graduate courses:

  •      HA 205  American Health Care Systems or LTC 210 Introduction to Long-Term Care
  •      HA 330  Health Care Administration
  •      HA 343   Health Care Financial Management

Minimum Grade


To be eligible for the fast track option, students must have a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or better.

Graduation


The HA courses will simply substitute for undergraduate courses, so students will graduate with a BS when completing all requirements. They will then transfer into the HA with some courses already taken.

Students interested in taking advantage of the Fast Track option should contact their Academic Advisors.

Once accepted, students may take a maximum of 12 and a minimum of 3 graduate level credits prior to completion of the Bachelor’s Degree.

For graduate level courses, students will pay the graduate tuition rate effective at the time of enrollment.

Students must earn a minimum of 3.0 grade point average in Fast Track graduate courses in order to progress to the MHA degree following completion of the Bachelor’s Degree.

Students who earn 128 credits may earn a bachelors degree and are not required to continue in the MHA program.  Inactive students, once readmitted, are subject to any new program guidelines instituted in their absence.
