Medical Biology, B.S.

Students in the Medical Biology major may concentrate their coursework in one of the following areas:  Pre-Medical Science, Pre-Dentistry, Pre-Pharmacy, or Pre-Veterinary Medicine, as well as preparing for a graduate degree in one of the basic fields of biology, such as ecology, microbiology or physiology.  The curriculum is designed to prepare students for professional and graduate school, and relies on careful course selection, relationship with faculty advisors, field experiences, internships, and the senior research project.

Completing this degree program will provide students with:

  • Scientific Literacy: To familiarize students with major scientific areas and techniques
  • Experimental Design: To frame an experiment and analyze results
  • Effective Communication: To communicate scientific data through a variety of written and oral methods
  • Career preparation

 

Core Curriculum:


In addition, all students must fulfill the college’s core curriculum  requirements and meet the 128 credit graduation requirement.  The First Year Experience (FYE) Seminar  is a requirement for all first-year students.

Note:


 BI203 and BI305 are strongly recommended.  Some professional schools may require additional courses.  All majors should discuss the program with their faculty advisor.
