Mathematics B.A.

The Mathematics major provides students with quantitative skills for their chosen careers and develops processes of analytical discourse and critical reasoning. The major prepares graduates for entry into many different occupations. It is particularly suited to careers in teaching, actuarial science, business, and engineering. The Bachelor of Arts major in Mathematics requires two semesters of the same foreign language.

Completing this degree program will provide students with:

  • Mathematical Literacy:  Familiarity and experience with major mathematical ideas and techniques.
  • Problem solving
  • Rigor:  Construct a correct logical argument.
  • Communication: Clearly and correctly develop and explain a mathematical topic.

In addition, all students must fulfill the college’s core curriculum  requirements and meet the 128 credit graduation requirement.  The First Year Experience (FYE) Seminar  is a requirement for all first-year students.
