Fast Track to MHA

Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: Undergraduate Programs

The Fast Track program allows students in specific Saint Joseph’s College undergraduate health administration programs to substitute certain courses from the Master of Health Administration (MHA) program in lieu of comparable undergraduate courses. Students will then be allowed to count these graduate courses toward their graduate degree requirements. The undergraduate programs that qualify for this accelerated option are the following:

  • Bachelor of Science – Health Administration Major
  • Bachelor of Science - Long-Term Care Administration Major
  • Bachelor of Science - Radiologic Science Administration Major

Qualified students in these undergraduate programs will be allowed to take up to 12 MHA credit hours from the following list of courses. Courses chosen will apply toward an MHA degree and will also meet corresponding undergraduate degree course requirements.  Students must complete their general education courses and core courses in the major before entering the fast track program.

HA 512: Quality Management & Performance Improvement HA 410: Quality in Health Care Administration
HA 571: Medical Informatics HA 214: Health Care Informatics
HA 511: Leadership in Health Administration HA 350: Leadership in Health Care Administration
HA 605: Health Care Marketing MK 201: Introduction to Marketing
HA 695: Managed Care & Reimbursement HA 360: Introduction to Managed Care
HA 685: Special Topics (Symposium) HA 401: Special Topics (Symposium)

Additional Admission Requirements

Students in the Bachelor’s degree programs must have completed all required undergraduate Major courses before taking any of the graduate courses. All students must have completed a basic English course before taking any of the graduate courses.

Minimum Grade

To be eligible for the fast track option, students must have a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or better.

Graduation

The HA courses will simply substitute for undergraduate courses, so students will graduate with a BS when completing all requirements. They will then transfer into the HA with some courses already taken.

Additional Notes

Students interested in taking advantage of the Fast Track option should contact their Academic Advisors.
