RN to MSN Program

The RN to MSN curriculum allows students to more rapidly progress through the BSN and MSN required courses.

Students may apply for the RN-MSN program when they have completed all nursing course requirements through the 300 level and a minimum of 79 credits of required arts and sciences. (Note that 32 credits must be earned from SJC to receive the degree.) Applicants must meet all other MSN admission requirements for full admission.  After admission to the RN-MSN option, students’ progress in meeting their undergraduate requirements but substitute graduate courses for NU 405 and NU 406 and the nursing approved elective. RN-MSN students may take one additional graduate level course to meet undergraduate elective requirements. The maximum number of graduate level credits earned while meeting undergraduate requirements is 12. When all requirements for the BSN are satisfactorily completed students are awarded the BSN and continue on with the remaining requirements to earn the MSN.

RN-MSN students will meet all the MSN requirements when working towards the MSN. Those courses that have been taken while in the BSN portion of the program, will be waived in the MSN portion. The student may have 27-30 credits remaining to complete in the MSN portion. Students interested in taking advantage of this option should contact their Academic Advisor.
