AT 207 - Intro to a Visual, Digital World: Branding in the Arts


Credits: 3

This course will provide skills in creating digital, visual content and branding materials. This includes website design, logo design, branding photography, social media content, creating a deck to pitch to a client, designing posters and flyers, and more. You will learn creative skills that can apply to future small businesses, entrepreneurial endeavors, company’s branding and marketing campaigns, as well as everyday life living in a digital and visual world. This course uses a variety of digital and analog modes of making and will be tailored to fit your specific interests and studies.

This course is Sustainability-Focused (SF) .

Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, you should be able to do the following:

  • Use a variety of traditional and new media art tools to produce original works of art.
  • Use iterative design process (research, design, development, and assessment) to solve a problem.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the basic elements and principles of design projects.
  • Critique art and identify a well-crafted finished design.
  • Argue the relevant applications of art and design in their chosen profession.
  • Demonstrate visual literacy by extrapolating meaning from pictures.
  • Demonstrate skills that enhance employ-ability including: creativity, critical thinking, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
  • Identify and acknowledge their own strengths and weaknesses, and focus on leveraging strengths and minimizing weaknesses in the process of becoming a lifelong learner.
