BA 402 - Senior Business Seminar


Credits: 4

This course is designed to provide senior business students with the opportunity to prepare for their journey beyond SJC and to demonstrate a combination of all business department learning outcomes.  Students will participate in an in-depth exploration of their talents and those necessary to continue developing to enjoy a successful career in business.  Students will discover and  practice their skills and abilities, will have the opportunity to share and demonstrate their ability to think critically about themselves and their skills, to act ethically in business, and will actively demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills via group work scheduled presentations

Prerequisite: Senior status

Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, you should be able to do the following:

  • Conduct research that includes the use of electronic library resources and the Internet; use the results of that research to complete a written final research paper and deliver effective business presentations.
  • Prepare for the transition from undergraduate study to graduate study or professional life by producing a multi-faceted and comprehensive e-portfolio, resume and LinkedIn profile.
  • Provide feedback, accept feedback, and use feedback to improve adaptability, critical thinking and communication skills.
  • Develop effective interpersonal communication skills and demonstrate self-knowledge through exploration utilizing several assessment modes (emotional intelligence, leadership, and strengthsfinder).
  • Demonstrate integrated knowledge through the creation of a senior research project in the area of the group’s choosing related to life after graduation, career sustainability or adulting.
  • Explore and identify individual academic and career goals, utilizing various tools to include: mock interview, interview in class experiential, research and reflection.
