EH 221 - Stephen King (SR)

Credits: 4 credits

Once considered “merely” a pop culture author, Stephen King has come to be recognized as one of his generation’s best storytellers. This course takes an in-depth approach to King’s work through an examination of some of his most-famous stories and essays, as well as films adapted from his works, with a particular focus on ethical and moral issues addressed by the author.

This is a Sustainability-Related (SR)    course.

Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Analyze and interpret Stephen King’s work, including its purpose, method, and ethical/moral dimensions;
  2. Conduct literary research using a variety of critical perspectives and apply that research to both written and oral communication
  3. Describe and discuss King’s literature;
  4. Identify, describe, and discuss ethical and political issues in, and surrounding, King’s work and its criticism;
  5. Demonstrate good communication skills, revealed in both writing and speaking.
