CO 207 - Public Relations I


Credits: (4 credits)

In this course, students learn the basics of journalism and public relations writing for print and online publications. Students learn the differences between the informative approach of journalism and the persuasive approach of public relations.  The course also deals with contemporary ethical issues and professional “best practices.”

Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the course students will be able to:

  •     Create factual and persuasive reports for print and online media
  •     Understand the philosophical differences between journalism, public relations, and       

             advertising

  •     Manage an organization’s formal and informal connections to its stakeholders and publics
  •     Select the best modern communications tools to produce and distribute content
