TH 227 - The Intercultural Catholic Church

This course will explore the intercultural nature of the Catholic Church, the impact of its missionary activity, and cultural challenges it faces. Additionally, liturgical life and popular devotions from around the world will be examined.

Course Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, you should be able to do the folllowing:

  1. describe the intercultural nature of the Catholic Church;
  2. explain the Catholic Church’s practice of inculturation and how it relates to evangelization;
  3. evaluate the impact of the Catholic Church’s missionary activity;
  4. elaborate on the cultural challenges faced by the Cathoilc Church in various regions of the world;
  5. compare popular Catholic devotions from various regions of the world; and
  6. integrate key concepts for effective intercultural ministry
