NU 642 - Teaching Strategies in Nursing & Healthcare Education


Use a variety of teaching strategies based on educational theory and evidence-based practices. Modify teaching strategies and learning experiences based on learner’s cultural background, past educational and life experiences, and generational groups.

Course Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, you should be able to do the following:

 

  • Demonstrate the use of ethical decision making to enhance the teaching-learning environment ( MSN Essential I).
  • Demonstrate the use of advanced communication and leadership skills to enhance the teaching-learning environment ( MSN Essential II).
  • Identify and demonstrate strategies for professional development and quality improvement while practicing in the role as a professional nurse educator (MSN Essential III).
  • Demonstrate the utilization of a variety of current technologies to enhance the teaching learning process and improve patient and student outcomes ( MSN Essential V, VII).
  • Employ knowledge and skills in ethics, adult learning principles, and systems in teaching strategies of nursing education. (MSN Essential I, IV, IX)
  • Articulate the evidence basis for practice decisions, teaching strategies and adult learner pedagogies (MSN Essentials I, IV, IX)
  • Identify and utilize current evidence-based teaching strategies and materials used in classroom, clinical, hospital, and non-traditional learning settings (MSN Essentials I, IV).
