HA 605 - Health Care Marketing


Relates key marketing functions to the health care industry. It integrates health care services development with promotion activities, pricing, and the distribution of services. Emphasis is placed on the managerial aspects of marketing strategies necessary for survival in a competitive marketplace. Further attention is given to the design of services and programs that respond to market interests and consumer preferences.

Upon completion of this course, you can expect to: 

  • Appreciate marketing as an essential management function in health care organizations. 
  • Gain insight into the regulatory and economic environments that affect the health care market and the way it is segmented, and identify organizational goals for each segment. 
  • Become familiar with well-established marketing concepts and techniques, and understand the relevance and implications for health care organizations (HCOs). 
  • Reaffirm the perspective of health care as a right (entitlement), and the special ethical considerations for HCOs that generally are not issues for other organizations in traditional business sectors. 
  • Identify trends in the organization, delivery, and financing of health care services that are particularly market-sensitive. 
  • Become an advocate of prudent marketing by your own profession as well as HCOs.
