NU 304 - Mental Health Nursing/Psychiatric Nursing


Credits: (3 credits - Theory, 2 credits- Clinical)

Applies the nursing process and the Roy Adaptation Model to meet the mental health needs of individuals, families and groups. A degree of self-awareness is expected to be achieved as students explore the nurse-client relationship. Therapeutic adaptation in the self concept and interdependent modes is emphasized as clients deal with stress associated with situational, maturational, emotional crises and psychopathology. Students collaborate with members of the mental health team in individual, family and group therapy with adolescent, adult and aged clients.
