The purpose of this course is to provide educators with an appreciation of the unique learning needs of students with special needs. Specific disability categories recognized by the State of Maine will be studied in addition to effective teaching practice, applicable law, and the role of the regular education teacher with the special educator. The successful student will develop an appreciation for the unique learning needs of all students.
