TH 520 - New Testament

The course presents the student with the opportunity to critically investigate the sources, context, and content of New Testament writings, as well as texts which were excluded from the finished bible, that is, the apocryphal writings.  In addition, it investigates how the New Testament has been variously interpreted and appropriated throughout the ages.  In this course, students learn the historical background and context of the New Testament writings.  They become familiar with the four gospels and selected letters, primarily through the application of exegetical methods such as source, redaction, and form criticism.
