Coaching Minor

The Coaching Minor at Saint Joseph’s College prepares student to provide a sports program that focuses on the intellectual, social and physical growth of athletes in a value-centered environment. Students will understand the pivotal role they will play as coaches in the lives of athletes.
Students will:
- Prepare and implement practice plans focusing on proper instruction, sequencing and safety of the athletes.
- Understand the importance of injury prevention, care and return to play protocols in conjunction with health care professionals.
- Assess emergency situations and activate emergency action plans
- Understand the psychological importance of sports participation among athletes
- Understand the legal issues associated with sports coaching.
