Undergraduate Certificate in Ministry to Black Catholics

The Undergraduate Certificate in Ministry to Black Catholics prepares those who are involved with or interested in pastoral ministry and religious education among Black Catholics, including the African-American community and more recent African immigrant communities. The certificate serves as a stepping stone towards the Bachelor of Arts in Theological Studies. Faithful to the magisterium, courses are designed to foster intellectual engagement in the scholarly pursuit of truth.

Program Highlights

  1. This program professes fidelity to the teachings of Jesus Christ and the doctrines and heritage of the Roman Catholic Church.
  2. Students develop an understanding and appreciation of the Catholic faith, with a specific emphasis on the history and cultural diversity and contributions of Black Catholics in the United States.
  3. The certificate contributes to the development of leadership among Black Catholics within the Catholic Church, providing competency in ministry, with an appropriate credential.
  4. Completion of the certificate can be a stepping stone towards a degree.
