Sports Management - Athletic Administration Concentration B.S.

The concentration in athletic administration prepares students to be leaders and role models in interscholastic, university and collegiate sports.  Courses focus on the significant role that athletic administrators engage in within the school and the community.  Learning outcomes support skill development in the areas of management, leadership, marketing, and communications.  Special emphasis will be placed on developing personal philosophies and values related to administration and coaching.  Students upon the completion of course work will have a thorough understanding of the nature of athletic administration.

Completing this degree program will enable students to:

  • Be familiar and apply major concepts and theories associated with business and sport management related practices
  • Understand professional ethics and social responsibility as it relates to sports participation, spectatorship, sports related business activities and professional standards.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally in verbal, nonverbal, and written format.
  • Use critical thinking skills to solve problems associated with administering and developing sport related activities for all levels of sport participation and spectatorship.
  • Engage in career development activities to prepare for job success or graduate school entrance.
