TH 227 - The Intercultural Catholic Church

The global Catholic Church comprises a multitude of cultures, and Catholic people live out their faith in rich, diverse ways based on those cultures. This course will explore the intercultural nature of the Catholic Church by exploring the various cultural challenges it faces and by examining the various practices and beliefs through the liturgical life and popular devotions from around the world.

Course Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:

  • Describe the intercultural nature of the Catholic Church.

  • Elaborate on the cultural challenges faced by the Catholic Church in various regions of the world.
  • Evaluate popular Catholic devotions from various regions of the world.
  • Integrate key concepts for effective intercultural ministry.
