NU 801 - Capstone

This capstone course requires the graduate nursing student to focus on substantive nursing practice issues and to develop solutions.  The student is required to complete a scholarly article under the direction of a faculty member, which synthesizes advanced practice knowledge and skills to address the identified issue.

Prerequisites & Notes
All MSN core courses and specialization courses.

Course Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, you should be able to do the following:

  • Apply the best available evidence from nursing and other related sciences as the foundation for the nursing practice solution. (MSN Essentials I, IV, IX)
  • Promote a professional environment that includes accountability and high-level communication skills when involved in peer review and professional writing. (MSN Essentials II, IX)
  • Integrate theory, evidence, clinical judgment, research, and interprofessional perspectives to develop solutions for a nursing practice issue. (MSN Essentials I, IV, VII, IX)
  • Synthesize evidence for practice to determine appropriate application of interventions across diverse populations. (MSN Essentials IV, VIII, IX)
