PH 230 - Philosophy of Religion


Credits: 4 credits

Studies important issues n the philosophy of religion. Topics include the nature of relgiion and its place in human life, arguments for/against the existence of God, the problem of evil, life after death, the possibility of miracles, concepts of God and divine attributes, and the relationship between faith and reason.

Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, the student will:

  1. Summarize key terms and concepts in the philosophy of religion.
  2. Identify implications of major philosophical theories on religious faith.
  3. Demonstrate critical thinking and reading skills.
  4. Demonstrate an ability to communicate and rationally defend positions on religious issues in wriiting.
  5. Respectfully analyze various positions on issues connected with the philosophy of religion.
  6. Recognize the role of reason in evaluating relgiious beliefs.
