PE 210 - Introduction to Outdoor Education Leadership


Credits: (4 credits)


This course will examine the knowledge and skills needed by recreational professionals to lead safe and effective individual and group outdoor programs.  Recreational Leadership planning, implementation and evaluation will be covered.  Theoretical discussion will be followed by practical application.

Learning Outcomes
 

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to do the following:
 

  1. Understand the idea of experiential education
  2. Create a personal definition of experimental education
  3. Illustrate the basics of group facilitation and dynamics
  4. Provide a deep understanding of all styles of leadership
  5. Develop an understanding why there is such an importance in today’s society to actively pursue personal leisure time
  6. Create an understanding of the importance of Eco-Therapy and reconnecting with nature
