CO 221 - Writing for Print and Electronic Media

In this course students learn the basics of news and public relations writing for print and online publication.  The course also exposes students to contemporary ethical issues and professional “best practices.”

Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to do the following:

  1.  Compose and share factual, ethical news stories;
  2.  Compose the philosophical differences between journalism, public relations, and advertising;
  3.  Manage an organization’s formal and informal connections with its stakeholders;
  4.  Select best modern communications tools to produce news, public relations, and advertising content.
